Glyfada to Kea (Tzia)
In the Cyclades cluster, at a stone’s throw from Athens, the cosmopolitan Tzia will simply captivate you. Tzia being a cosmopolitan, friendly and affordable island, has been a popular weekend destination and its visitors enjoy the “flair” of the Aegean and fresh fish in its marinas.
Discover its beaches, old churches, watermills, towers and windmills. Walk along the paths of the island going back in time to the time of ancient Greece. Admire the carved statue of the guardian “Lion” in Ioulida, which is also the emblem of the island, is associated with its myths and dates back to early archaic times. Ioulida is the only one of the ancient cities built inland. Built amphitheatrically on the slope, it invites you to indulge in its magic with the mansions and urban houses, vaulted alleys, fountains, traditional architecture and urban planning and the Venetian castle, which is still partially preserved. Spend some time in the neoclassical City Hall building, designed by architect Ernst Ziller, and be sure to visit the Archaeological Museum, which is considered one of the most important in the Cyclades.
Explore the wrecks at its sea bottom, which hides a variety of secrets. The ocean liner Vretanikos, sister ship of the Titanic, sank near Tzia from a German mine in 1916. It was only his sixth trip. It was explored by the team of Jacques Yves Cousteau in 1975. To date, few divers have approached the wreck, which is located at a depth of 120 meters and is considered one of the most important in the Mediterranean and the largest of all time. On the shore of Koundouros there is another shipwreck: the steamer Patris, which sank in 1868.
Important beaches worth visiting include: Vourkari, Gialiskari, Korissia, Koundouros, Orkos, Pisses and Spathi. These beaches with their calm waters and white sand, tamarisk and eucalyptus trees are waiting for you on this Greek island and are accessible and popular among those who have a boat.
This trip is an ideal escape, away from crowded beaches, to see the Athenian Riviera, while relaxing on our luxury boat and enjoying your wine. We will pass outside the five star hotel Four Seasons Astir Palace, you will be able to admire the Temple of Poseidon and in about one (1) hour from our departure we will reach the beach Koundouros of Kea-Tzia. You can start your day by swimming in the beautiful bay with its clear blue waters and then anchor in Vourkari where you will have plenty of time to walk and enjoy your meal in one of the very beautiful seaside restaurants.
